When removal of eyelash extensions is necessary
False eyelashes are attached to the natural lashes and after application women can enjoy wearing them for several weeks, in general. Sometimes, however, lash extensions need to be removed faster, even before the client’s natural lashes fall out due to the natural shedding cycle.
You will find below a brief summary of circumstances when removal of eyelash extensions is absolutely necessary.
Allergic reaction to the product
If your client experiences an allergic reaction to eyelash extensions, remove them immediately. Common symptoms of allergic reactions to lash extensions are redness, itchiness or swelling of the eyelids. These symptoms can show immediately after application of lashes, but sometimes it can take a couple of days before they can be seen. In the majority of cases, allergies are caused by the glue, namely its ingredients as cyanoacrylate, latex and formaldehyde. Badly matched product to the client’s natural lashes
Sometimes eyelash extensions applied in a beauty salon are too heavy and thick for client’s natural lashes to handle. There are no magic tricks here – nature cannot be fooled. As an responsible lash artist you can try with decreasing the number of applied extensions or use lighter products. If that doesn’t help you should definitely remove the extensions.
Client’s eyelashes are stuck together
Poor quality of lashing service often results in the lash extensions glued together into bunches, forming uneven lash line. It may be due to the use of cheaper eyelash extension products or low qualification of a stylist. Except for the ugly appearance it will be also very challenging to do future refills. In such situations it is recommended to remove the extensions completely and arrange for a new lash application at the professional and recognized lash studio.
New versus old look
Your client wants to change her current lash extension style and try something new. It would be easiest to mix the current eyelashes with the new ones. Nevertheless the old extensions still hold and look well. But the bad result may be obtained. Uneven lash-line, lack of symmetry between the set of extensions will give the opposite effect than desired. Therefore we recommend to remove the old eyelash extensions if your client wants to get completely new lashes.
